Though many have been led to believe that the War Between the States was fought to end slavery, there was something much bigger at play. The Confederate states believed in being governed from home, in their home state rather than by a federal system controlled by the major industrial system and elitists in the North.

The conflict, anything but civil, pitted brother against brother in a bloody struggle to settle a political ideology. It also pitted some of the greatest military leaders like U.S. Grant, George Meade, W.T. Sherman and Phil Sheridan against brilliant tacticians like Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, and daring riders like J.E.B. Stuart, J.B. Hood and John Mosby.
